Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
