Tehran is prepared to resume atomic talks with Washington provided that it is handled with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's foreign minister has announced.

The Iranian diplomat stated exclusively dialogue was effective, and revealed fresh requests had been made by mediators to restart negotiations with the Trump administration. He asserted Iran had zero undeclared nuclear sites, and Tehran could not yet allow the UN nuclear inspectorate to visit bombed nuclear sites for security reasons.

Walking a Challenging Route

The foreign minister is navigating a complex path since Iran aims to avoid be seen to be proceeding from a situation of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had arisen stronger militarily and mentally from the Israeli-US attack on its nuclear sites in June.

He was addressing at a security conference in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an inalienable right to enrich uranium domestically that it will always maintain" – the primary cause of the stalemate in the previous talks.

Earlier Discussions Unexpectedly Terminated

The prior phases of talks between the US and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and acrimonious end on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, attacked Iranian nuclear sites in a fortnight-long engagement that ended with the US president asserting the locations had been destroyed. Afterward, European countries used their privilege to reimpose UN-wide sanctions, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Magic Solution Suggested

Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had attained a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in earlier negotiations, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with American involvement could refine atomic fuel. Both sides would have been able to declare success since home-based processing would have persisted and the US could be assured that Iran's enrichment initiative was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been decided in the talks that US nuclear scientists could operate inside Iran, but that was a logical implication of the partnership suggestion. Diplomats stated three times they had achieved a deal with Washington's diplomat the American negotiator only for the arrangement to disintegrate due to "spoilers in Washington".

Existing Position

He said the assaults began with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an unconditional call for a ceasefire.

Iran is assured the first strikes by Israel were mounted with full US knowledge and cooperation, making confidence challenging to reestablish.

Negotiations Remains the Primary Solution

The foreign minister said: "It was not Iran that had fled negotiations; it was America and the European states that had repeatedly sought to dictate their desires during the talks. Dialogue can still be viable and remains the primary solution to settle disagreements, but its criteria, guidelines and fundamentals must be followed."

Restoration and Recovery
