Jurgen Klopp says coming back to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and as an advisor for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the notion that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he explained to his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side in England. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, so I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I can just see what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations must arise to tempt his return to the dugout, he revealed he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or constant media duties each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly great spirits at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, praising him for the adjustments which secured the championship last campaign. They've been defeated four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the idea it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good balanced team. No need for concern over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly on the loss of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and the effect for the team. Jota was killed in a car crash together with his sibling in July.

“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the squad missing him. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad too. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results yet it's the reality. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Coping with it emotionally is not easy. Unbearable.”
