Multiple Injured as Turbulence Impacts Delta Aircraft Landing at Sydney
Several people sustained injuries following a Delta Airlines jet from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced turbulence this past Friday.
Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier informed. A number of the onboard staff required medical attention.
Emergency medical services said they treated five individuals, and took a trio to the hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised pain in the back and head pain. Those affected were between their thirties and seventies.
The event represents the newest example of aircraft experiencing turbulence, with researchers indicating that shifting climate patterns is a significant contributor.
The aircraft was carrying nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson noted, stating that the plane touched down "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on the day in question.
